Texas A&M University’s official mascot is none other than a purebred American Collie. The first Reveille was a black & white stray mutt. Several students returning from a party found her and smuggled her into the dorms. The next morning, a bugler played “Reveille” causing the little dog to bark – and assigning her a permanant name. Although pets were against the rules, everyone fell in love with her. The next football season, she was named mascot.

There have been 7 Reveille’s since, with the most current being a registered collie who began her duties on May 12, 2001.
